Cyanotype is an ancient process of photographic contact printing that uses the sun and produces an enigmatic cyan-blue after sunstroke, an obvious nod to the azure of the Riviera.  Developed by Sir John Hershel in 1842 from a mixture of ferric ammonium citrate and potassium ferricyanide, this technique offers great craftsmanship and artistic freedom.  With the choice of the medium, the fabrication and the application of the chemistry with a brush, the cyanotype exposure printing becomes a truly unique object, where the artist’s hand and gaze are essential.
